TRIOTECH, a world leader in the multimedia interactive attractions industry, is proud to announce that it has just landed the largest contract of its history by signing an agreement with the Cedar Fair Entertainment Company owner of eleven attraction and theme parks in North America. The Montreal company, which is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, has just been mandated for the design and production of an impressive Interactive Dark Ride attraction for Cedar Fair’s Knott’s Berry Farm theme park in Los Angeles, California.

Christened Voyage to the Iron Reef, the attraction will be designed and produced in Montreal and will enable visitors to enjoy an interactive 3D experience complemented by 4D effects. “It will be like being on a ride, watching a movie on giant screen and playing a video game… all at the same time”, said Eric Marradi, Artistic Director for TRIOTECH.

This is the second time that TRIOTECH has worked with Cedar Fair Entertainment Company, which also owns Canada’s Wonderland, where TRIOTECH designed and installed the Wonder Mountain’s Guardian attraction last May. In fact, that ride was responsible for TRIOTECH recently winning the prestigious Brass Ring Award for best new product in the Major Theme-Amusement Park Ride category, at the International Amusement and Attraction Parks Association Tradeshow, held from November 17 to 21 in Orlando, Florida. The Montreal company also took home the jury’s Impact Award which is granted to the new product which will have to biggest positive impact on the industry’s future.

“We are proud that TRIOTECH is now recognized as a world leader in the interactive attractions industry. This second major contract from Cedar Fair Entertainment Company allows us to strengthen our increasingly dominant position on the market and motivates our team to surpass customers’ expectations and push the limits of the guest experience in attraction parks. Our team includes over one hundred animation, 3D, engineers, software development experts and other specialists,”, commented Ernest Yale, President and CEO of TRIOTECH.

Passengers climbing aboard the four-seat vehicles for Voyage to the Iron Reef will have to use their freeze-guns to protect the theme park from scary underwater creatures that eat the steel from the rides and threaten to destroy everything in sight. TRIOTECH collaborated with Cedar Fair’s Los Angeles team for the scenario and universe, and is solely responsible for the interactive content, special effects, projections as well as the project’s integration. Voyage to the Iron Reef will open its doors in the spring of 2015 and will be fun for visitors of all ages.

“Like other attractions in the park such as Timber Mountain Log Ride and Calico Mine Ride, Voyage to the Iron Reef provides great importance to storytelling”, pointed out Raffi Kaprelyan, Vice-President and General Manager of Knott’s Berry Farm. “However, the unique technology provided by TRIOTECH will propel visitors into the most modern multi-sensory experience.”

Voyage to the Iron Reef attraction is a cornerstone of TRIOTECH’s major achievements over the past year. The company is finalizing the implementation of two more Interactive Dark Rides, one at the Hello Kitty Park in Shanghai and the other in Istanbul, Turkey. TRIOTECH is also working on other confidential large scale projects not only in the U.S., but also in Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

15 years already!

For the past 15 years, TRIOTECH has continued to make its mark on the world stage with leading edge technology, exciting products and innovative content. The company got off the ground by manufacturing video games with simulators for arcades and now sets itself apart with a wide range of products: Interactive Dark Ride, XD Dark Ride, XD Theater, Interactive Cinema, along with the Typhoon simulator for arcades. Also, its XD Dark Ride interactive theater, which was honored last year at the IAAPA Tradeshow, is now in operation at Colossus Laval following a successful summer on the La Ronde site.

Why Triotech?

They call us the rebels of the industry. And quite frankly, we take it as a compliment. For us, every project is an opportunity to challenge the status quo.
